Kenvue - Listerine Product Photography

We had the privilege of working with the team at Kenvue for the Listerine brand to create an image library of over 60 content assets. We custom built a bathroom set in studio, to be a natural, “real-life” setting for their full line of Listerine mouthwash products. The task was also to highlight the science-backed advantages of Listerine’s products. We sourced fresh plants, props and materials and styled them with formula samples sent over from Johnson & Johnson Labs.

The challenge

Capturing the clear glass containers, clear liquids and pure white lab ingredients set against a clean white background all without having to composite multiple exposures together.

The solution

We created contrast by tightly controlling the highlights by using a mix of hard lights and soft diffused lighting and provided each clear glass container separation by using black cards and precisely placed reflectors and mirrors. We photographed the entire styled set by placing the Listerine product and ingredient elements onto a thick, clear plexiglass sheet covered with a layer of translum diffusion. This created a tabletop surface we could light from underneath to control the exposure of the surface.
